You’ll meet for your briefing and start at the poppet head-frame at the top of Seddon Street.
Once the gun goes you’ll head down the Pit Rim Walkway towards Union Hill. The course crosses SH25 then meanders into this bush-covered mining heritage area before bursting out onto farmland for a short stretch until it reaches the pine trees and sweet single-track. The ‘Pink Trail‘ boasts a mix of forest, farm and river-side scenery before it delivers you in a loop around the Motu Kehu Trail and back to Union Hill where you'll take a trail alongside Mill Stream. Once you’re off the hill you cross SH25 again then head through Slevin Park for a short blast around the Pit Rim Walkway. As a special treat you'll venture inside the gold mine for a fast finish back at the event base under the shadow of our iconic Cornish Pumphouse.
Most of the course is gravel trail, with some sections of dirt. It's pretty fast, but with a few good 'pinches' to keep you honest.
There will be 1 Aid Station on the 6 km course which you will pass through twice.
You should prepare to be self-sufficient for the duration of your race. Our Aid Stations will have some fruit, water and electrolyte drink available to help with your race nutrition, however this should be considered a top-up only and you shouldn't rely on it for your full race energy requirements.
Cups will not be provided at any aid stations. Please BYO cup/bottle or carry your own hydration needs to help us reduce our event waste.
